Does Proactiv Really Work For Treating Acne?
Proactiv Solution is just one of the most popluar acne treatments out on the market today, which claims relief from acne, blackheads, and blemishes. What Proactiv boasts is an all-in-one system that aims not to cure pimples one at a time, but to deliver a full-face acne clearing solution that gets rid of existing pimples, and prevents new ones from coming out.
The Proactiv System consists of 3 separate components that are used in conjunction with each other:
Renewing Cleanser
A cleanser that exfoliates your dead skin with tiny beads using an oil-free solution. Also contains benzoyl peroxide, a known chemical that cures acne. Proactiv suggests that you use this cleanser about twice per day, once in morning and once at night.
Revitalizing Toner
The revitalizing toner works to unclog pores. It also helps remove excess oils and balances the skin tone. This is also applied twice a day (morning and night), following the use of the Renewing Cleanser. It is recommended to use a sunscreen if going outdoors after using this product.
Repairing Lotion
An oil-free facial lotion that also contains benzoyl peroxide. The benzoyl peroxide content in this product is much lesser in quantity as compared to the Renewing Cleanser. It aims to heal blemishes, and prevent new ones from developing. Used twice a day (morning and night), following the use of the Revitalizing Toner. It is recommended to use a sunscreen if going outdoors after using this product as well.
What Proactiv promises is a skin care system that is strong enough to clear out acne, but is gentle enough for everyday use. It works by removing bacteria and dirt that are clogged up in the pores. It also reduces swelling and redness with the help of botanical contents such as allantoin, panthenol, aloe, and chamomile.
Proactiv was developed by a team of two dermatologists. Dr. Katie P. Rodan, M.D. has been named as one of the Best Doctors in America and is a member of numerous professional societies, including the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery and the California Medical Association.
Dr. Kathy A. Fields, M.D.’s practice of medical and surgical dermatology encompasses the treatment of disorders of the skin, hair, and nails, including the excision of benign and malignant skin growths. As an authority on skin disease and aging, a significant portion of Dr. Fields’ practice is devoted to cosmetic dermatology and helping patients who wish to minimize the appearance of the adverse effects of sun exposure. She performs collagen and botox treatments, skin peels, and sclerotherapy of leg veins, as well as laser surgery and liposuction.
